Mandatory Retrenchment Notifications (with effect from 1 January 2017)

Employers are required to notify MOM of retrenchments within five (5) working days after the affected employees are notified, if 5 or more employees are retrenched within a 6-month period.

Under the Workforce Singapore Agency Act, it is an offence if employers fail to notify MOM within the required timeline and may be liable to penalties if convicted, including a fine not exceeding $5,000.
